Korea's biggest manufacturers are repositioning around the AI data center buildout — and today's front page shows how far the shift has gone.
LG Electronics has completed a beta prototype of NVIDIA's AI server racks, applying 58 years of cooling expertise that dates back to Korea's first commercial air conditioner in 1968. Mass production is targeted for next year after an evaluation running through the second half of 2026. Separately, SK Hynix's chief manufacturing officer said memory demand will keep rising as AI reaches its fourth-to-fifth generation, and signaled a US DRAM and HBM plant if conditions align. Together, the moves point to Korea supplying core AI hardware rather than only chips and parts.
